People will argue this to the grave but like mentioned before, if you have confidence in a leader, use it. And use the right line for situation, like don't flip with 8# test and don't drop shot with 65# braid.

I fish braid on nearly every reel I have. I almost always tie a minimum 3' Flouro leader. It gives you the best of both worlds... The sensitivity and strength of braid, and the stealthly advantages of flouro. Plus if you get hung up really deep it's a lot easier to break off a the leader than straight braid. If the water is pretty stained, and I'm fishing something weedless (like TX rig), that extra sensativity from using all braid can be a nice bonus. Everyone else is right tho... Use whatever makes you feel confident.
Tip: If you're fishing topwater and want to use a leader... Use Mono, bc it floats Couldn't have said it better myself

A lot of it has to do with action. A split shot rigged finesse worm is going to fall a lot different on 6lb fluoro than on 20lb braid.

I agree but there is a difference between a reaction strike and worm or jig bite. I think the alabama rig kinda just blew this theory of bass seeing the line completely out of the water.
Excellent point. So fish won't bite a lure that is tied onto the end of 50 lb braid with 10 lb equivalent diameter, but they'll chomp a lure that is attached to a hunk of wire? When a jig is resting on the bottom the skirt flares out. How is the bass going to determine if it has braided line with all those silicone strands flared out around it? The braid just looks like part of the skirt. If anything it just gives the jig a bigger profile.

No it depends on the cover and clarity of the water. It also depends on the type of bait you ate fishing I fish straight braid in thick grass but always use a leader on a c-rig and always go straight braid on a frog. If you can get away with it use the braid if you can't get the bites you should try a leader.

On my rods with braid, I use straight braid with no leader. IMO if you put another knot between the bait and the reel you've just put another weak spot between you and the fish. I've used straight braid in very clear water and caught fish. That's just my opinion.
