Saw a angler/host at the Jr. Bassmasters at Ivie getting ready to take off and they had theirs down. Had one of the trolling motors with a longer shaft. Yelled at them and was able to get their attention right before they got up and out. It was really windy that day, might've saved them from being trolling motor less for the rest of the day.

More often than I care to say. I have broken steering cables twice. I think I finally learned, but we will see.

While getting on plane, Once on accident and was soaked. If Im hitting spots that are close but just too far to T-motor to, Ill leave it down and run about 10-12 mph over to the spot. Keep the nose up high enough to keep the T-motor out of the water.

You bet. Bent the upper tube and got to find out how to replace it. At least the part was cheap. Been there..., but I just used it as a reason to upgrade... Are the tube easy to replace? I still have my old one.

Tube was pretty easy to replace. I have never worked on a trolling motor so I just had to go slow, label wires and make sure I remembered how things went back together. Now that I've done it I could probably do it in 1/3 the time.

I've actually never left the trolling motor down but did forget the plug for the first time about 3 months ago. My routine was changed due to the required launch at a low water level Lake Conroe. I was really proud at how efficient/fast I was at getting the boat off the trailer, the trailer parked and back in the boat roaring off.
So fast, I was, that the water hadn't creeped high enough to bog the boat down or come up the middle drain onto my feet. At least until I made it to my first stop, and had dropped the trolling motor, made my first cast and STRIKE! I thought man this is going to be a great morning fishing. I reeled her in, swung her into the boat and she went SPLASH right into the water now 2 inches in my console area.
I was like what the heck and then remembered....The PLUG! So I fling the bass back in the water, yank the trolling motor up, fire up the Yamaha 250 and its like a barge. No way she is going to plane, so I wheel around towards the shore, get the plug and jump in freezing water. I have to submerge because the Bass Cat plug is recessed and it took me a good 30 seconds to find the hole. I had both pumps going, of course, and after 15 minutes sitting there freezing was able to get back on a plane and high tail it back in for a clothes change.
I hope I will never forget a plug again after that "reminder".
