I did so little traveling in 05, it makes me sick just thinking about. So here's my list of places to visit in 06. What is your's? Fayette Co. Res. Stillhouse Hollow Purtis Creek S.P. Meridian S.P. Lake Jacksonville Gibbons Creek Lake Athens Lake Fork Lake Bastrop Now if I can just make to half of them, I'll be a happy camper.

skid/flip, If you don't mind me asking. What is your approach when catching smallies at Whitney in a yak? I'm only an hour away from that beautiful big lake and would love to give it a try. I've caught thousands of largemouths and trout but never a bronzeback.

slo-cal,do a river trip below the dam.Or put in at Dicks outpost and go up river a mile or two.If you dont catch a smally there they aint biting.A funny story,a friend of mine was about at the point Im talking about doing a trip from the dam,and about a three pounder jumped into the canoe and hit him in the chest. It fell in the canoe. He took pictures and released it.Isaw the fish,it was great.
Canoes, too, are unobtrusive; they don't storm the natural world or ride over it, but drift in upon it as a part of its own silence. (John Graves)

Thx coopperhead. A float trip sounds great. Smaller baits probably would work best. 4" worms, small grubs,in-line spinners should all be good baits. I will give Dick's a call. March-May I would think is the best months.

I've never been to Whitney, but it's the closest place to me with smallmouth. I want to give it a shot this year.
