Wentt out fishing today and boat started out running fine. Right before we got to our last spot the motor knocked a ouole times so I decided to head back and it started knocking worse and then the motor died and once I started it back up it was knocking really bad so we trolled back in on the trolling motor got back to the house and checked the compression the bottom cylinder was 0 while the other 3 are between 120-130.
I just bought thisboat a month ago and everything checked out fine then so my question is there anyway to fix this motor without replacing the power head and of not would it be worth fixing or would I be better off buying another motor. Any help would be great.

Motor will have to come completely apart for rebuild. Last one I did ran about 3 grand. You just bought a used motor that checked good and lasted 1 month. Their are some rebuilders giving a 3 year warranty on their rebuilt motors. Sorry for your bad experience.

ah man that sucks. I remember you posting the pic of your new rig about a month ago. Good looking boat/motor. I hope you get her running quickly without spending too much $$$

Im pretty sure im gonna buy another motor. I have talked to some mechanics that have some motors for sale that they will warranty the motor and its for less or around what it will cost ti have the power head rebuilt. I found an 88 150 yamaha that will come with a warranty for 2100 im assuming that's a good deal but honestly don't know.

I only let it run a min or two literally. I think the damage was done at that point.

Drain all the oil out of your car then crank it up and see what a minute or too does to it.

Can you put a 150 on your boat? If you can I have a 150 Evinrude good shape will warranty for 1800.00 Has everything you will need to install on your boat: controls, cables, wiring harness, oil tank, trim gauge & stainless prop.

Update: Went and.pick the boat up last night from the mechanic. The bottom cylinder was bored and hoaned then some other maintenance things. Bottom line is I'm back in business well after I break the motor back in. It sure is nice seeing the boat sitting in the garage.
