even when they cut you off i guess,? oh well, over and done, but I can tell you this one, i sure hope he learns to drive better, cause if my reaction time had been a little slower, when he made the left in front of me, there would have been a real bad one for sure.

Unfortunately, you just can't fix stupid, elk. What that guy did deserves an arse whoopin' but had you hit him, you may have been in the wrong. I would never assume that people understand "stand-on" and "give way" vessels and maintain my course, even though I am in the right. Being right and dead ain't no fun!

Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

So he was approaching from your right and you are mad he did not yield right away so that you can continue on your course?

Well sir, no disrespect meant but perhaps you should take a boater safety course and learn boating regulations. You were 100% in the wrong and this makes your rant a little more over the top and ridiculous than the normal rant. I am glad there was no collision, and nobody was injured. But if there had been and you did not yield to a vessel approaching from your right, you were the give way vessel and he was the stand on vessel, this means you would have been at fault in a collision.

Once again glad there wasn't a bad collision.

You should have read the entire post. He clearly stated the boat was running in the same direction he was and made an abrupt left turn in front of him.

At the point the 2 vessels were to cross, he (said bad guy boat) was still approaching from the right, so as earlier stated the (bad guy boat) was still the stand on vessel and was still "legally" not the vessel that was suppose to alter his course.

Oh and I did read it.

No, he approached from behind then full speed past then turned within 20 feet of me, kind of hard to determine what was what when he just blew up on me then cut me off with a hard left turn.
All Im saying is people need to think before they do, he had a lot of room behind me to pass as he came up from behind, did not hve to rev up and cut me off.

Good info in this thread. I would have assumed pulling in front of someone going full blast in a bass boat is wrong regardless of which direction you are coming from.

I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

well Mr Elkhartdom

If you have taken a boater safety course you would have known or maybe you should review that course again. What the said (bad guy boat) did was foolish and rude , but he was still approaching from your right and if the there was a collision, and as you stated he was approaching from "YOUR RIGHT", you would still be the give way vessel. And possibly be at fault..

It's not saying your wrong to be be mad or upset that someone "cut you off" and perhaps was careless in their (the bad guy boat) actions. But you trying to spin it into you were 100% in the legal right, that is just crazy.

Dude calm down, dry your tears and enjoy your days on the water, none of us are getting any younger.

Remember:

Vessel on YOUR Right is stand on vessel, that means you (the other vessel) is the give way vessel..

dude, im so calm it hurts, otherwise there would have been alot more said and done. I dont mind idiots cutting me off, but i do mind them doing it then flipping me off, this has turned into more than it should have, just let it go, I have, and yes he was on my right, and should have by all rules and regulations and common sense, gone BEHIND ME not in front of me, but like I said, its over and done, no harm no foul, just a good soaking and hopefully a good lesson, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN ALL AROUND YOU AND DONT TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED.

I guess I just don't understand. If you are running down the lake with no one in sight and a boat comes from behind you on your right they can just cut hard left and you have to be able to anicipate that move and be able to stop or the crash is your fault? I know that the highway is a different beast but who would be at fault for turning left from the right hand lane in a 4 lane road? I wish this stuff was more logical.
