I've read two cases over the last few days of pros having to forfeit or restart their day because a coangler placed a fish in the wrong angler's livewell.

Roland Martin and I think Jim Moynaugh.

Why should a pro be penalized for something completely out of their control? Maybe FLW should reanalyze their position on that, maybe requiring all coanglers to somehow tag fish with something that identifies them as the congler's fish BEFORE they go in the livewell.

Sucks for the pros.

I dunno this one is tough. I think re analyzing it could open other doors. I also don't think its 100% out of the boater's control. Yes it sucks, and I don't know all the details.

The way I see it is that its theyre boat they need to control what goes on in it. Something as simple as look back while the co is opening the livewells to ensure its going on the passanger side. Or make the co use certian cull tags or something.

That would be a loooooong day on the water if you caused your pro to have to throw a limit of fish out and start over because you weren't paying attention, or worse... lose all your weight for the day like in RM's case.

That is why i put a cull tag on my fish before it ever enters the livewell. If the coangler puts their fish in my well they can be told apart. I have two different sets of tags that way i will always be using a diferent kind than my coangler.

I fished a club tourney last year and it was on Grapevine. I had 5 and my co had 4. We both used cull rings and at the end of the day, I had 8 fish on my side and couldn't tell them apart because they were my cull rings and they didn't differentiate. Neither of us had a good sack and we both had to forfeit. I would have done better in my club standings, but I couldn't have lived with turning in anything. I have corrected this problem and it will NOT happen again grin

How hard is it to say "you put your fish in that half of the livewell and I'll put mine in that half"? Surely this wasn't a mistake, rather a case of the pro not communicating to the co-angler.

You always put your fish in the well behind the seat you ride in...

Could you imagine being the co-angler that botched Roland Martin's day using the wrong livewell? Even if it was a pure accident I'm sure he felt like a complete dumb azz. Or at last should have.

Makes perfect sense. If I was a co-angler, I'd ask. If I was a pro, I'd tell them as we were idling out.
