I posted this in the Float Tube section, and I'd like to include kayakers. Let me know your thoughts:
I would be happy to organize another Fall Float tournament, if there is sufficient interest. Heck, Kelly has a boat now, so he won't be taking our money!

I am thinking about Black Creek. The reason for this lake is that it has good fishing, but is not too easy. There are ample enough numbers of legal-sized fish to ensure a decent weigh-in, and the potential exists for a BIG fish or two (lake record is over 13 pounds). It is large enough for folks to spread out. There is camping available for anyone who wishes to spend the night the evening prior to the tournament. It is also close to the metroplex, only 45 minutes or so northwest of Fort Worth.
Also, the folks that work for the park service in the Grasslands are great, and they wouldn't charge us a fee for the tourney, as it is a non-profit event. To return their hospitality, we might even consider a post-tournament volunteer effort, cleaning up trash, making needed repairs, clearing brush, whatever. I spoke with David, one of the rangers up there, last weekend, and I'll be seeking some input on a spring fund-raiser tournament later, btw.
I am thinking about the first or second weekend of October. Entry fees would be the same as always: $25 per person, $10 optional big bass pot. It would be 100% payback, as I don't care about making a living off the thing (of course, if I win it...

). The weather would, hopefully, have eased up a bit by then, too.
Please give some feedback on your interest. These have been a ton of fun in the past, and they have allowed a lot of us the chance to meet and become friends/fishing buddies with some great folks. I, for one, would welcome the chance to meet some of you new tubers out there. I'll look for your thoughts for a couple of weeks, then make a decision. Thank you for your help!
