Better late than never.Several of us put in at the dam on saturday the 16th.It was an outing for the Fort Worth Fly fishers club.We had some others join us for the trip. The fishing is always slow for me at the beginning of this trip, but as the day goes by it always improves.I think all of us got in to fish. The water seems to get better down about three to four miles. Its a 8.6 mile trip but very easy to do.I got into some schooling sand bass, caught several nice bass, and a lot of (my favorite )brim. They hit with a fury. What a hoot.Others caught every thing from gar to carp.On a fly it is great.Ill try again to do this trip in september or october.Anybody interested Ill post ahead on this site. Now BobM tell us your version lol.Oh yea and Jboy.

Canoes, too, are unobtrusive; they don't storm the natural world or ride over it, but drift in upon it as a part of its own silence. (John Graves)

I have never checked out this part of the Brazos. Are you all using a shuttle service? If so, do you have any directions or website. I was thinking of camping at Whitney State Park and trying this float in the near future.

Declan, the Brazos behind Whitney is the best part of the Brazos in my opinion, it's approx 8.6 miles from dam to dicks. We do use a shuttle service, Dick's www.dickscanoes.com will provide the service, he also has a cabin for rent and canoe/kayak rentals. Check out the web site. Hope this helps
