Those look great! Is that spun deer hair? Very tight. How did you make the extended body, i.e. that part behind the hook bend? I bow to the master.
In this life there is fly fishing and tying...and then there is all that other stuff in between that doesn't matter.

Cool stickbait-looking flies! I believe that woodworking, like deer hair stacking/spinning/trimming is a high form of art.

Do you guys know of any thing else I could coat it with besides epoxy or is epoxy my best bet I've had the best results using epoxy, but there are a lot of other options. If you use epoxy, don't use the quick dry, 5 minute type epoxy. The 30 minute epoxy dries clearer and stays clear longer. The 5 minute epoxy tends to yellow quicker. The best part about using epoxy is that you get a bullet proof fly. Several coats of clear Sally Hanson's fingernail polish should seal them up. But I haven't gotten as long of life out of fingernail polish as I have epoxy before water start leaking in. But if you don't bounce them off of rocks, it might not be an issue. There are whole lot of new UV cure resins out there now, such as Clear Cure Goo. I haven't played with these yet, but from what I've heard, coating poppers is not the best use for this material. Primarily because a popper will use a lot of the relatively expensive material. You can also use the rod building epoxies for coating poppers. They are easy to work with and dry clear. The Softex style coatings can also be used. But again, it takes a lot of material to cover several poppers. I usually coat my poppers before tying on the tails. Otherwise, I tend to ruin the tails by getting epoxy all over them, but I'm not the most graceful of tiers. Nice flies, I like the extended body look.

Thanks Rex I think I am going to try the Sally's for now and I'll let y'all know how it turns out. How would you dry the 30 min if I didn't have a fly drier.

How would you dry the 30 min if I didn't have a fly drier. It is tedious, but it works - clothes pins. Place the fly in a clothes pin and set it on a shelf so the fly hangs off the side. Make sure the fly is not heavier than the clothes pin. About every 20 to 30 seconds rotate the clothes pin a 1/4 turn. Adjust the rotation time depending on how runny the epoxy is. As the epoxy dries, you can extend the time between rotations. Also, you won't have rotate the flies for the full 30 minutes. The epoxy will not be completely dry, but it stops "flowing" before the 30 minutes is up. Needless to say, this method works best when doing a batch of flies. Only doing one or two flies, gets boring, but multiple flies will keep you busy. Also, pick your "shelf" carefully. If one of the flies were to fall off, you might not want it to land on the carpet or the dining room table while covered in wet epoxy.

And a little Googling will turn up inexpensive options for buying/building a turner.
