Decided to head out to Somerville to do some catfishin around one or so to get my fishin fix in before i go on call for the next few weeks. Launched from Nails Park and paddled across the lake and entered the yegua. Paddled 45 min up the creek and finally found a reasonable location to fish at under a tree.
As soon as my punch bait hit the water it was on. Cat's ranging from dinks to 5 lbs + were caught most of the day. It was damn fun. After a few cats were caught, I decided to go lighter on my rigging since there wasn't too many snags around plus the drag wasnt screaming enough for my liking. I was using 8lb test line on my fast-medium 6 ft All Star spinning rig then down to a 6 lb test on the 6 ft lite power triumph spinning rig. The fishing experience was more exciting after the switch, hearing the drag squeal and seeing the pole bend almost full circle made my freakin day.
Had to leave early cause most of the cats swallowed my trebles and I ran out of them. Harvested the ones that did and called it a day. I kept 7. Once I'm off call, I'll come back and and try my luck again to slime up my yak some more. Next go around, I'm gonna bring my Ultra lite 4.5 ft rod with 4 lb test for some catfishin.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Good luck out on the water everyone!
