There's a good pond behind the little Baylor Medical facility at the corner of horizon and 549. I have caught several bass from 3-8lbs. There is also several good ponds in Waterview just across the lake. Good luck!

The ponds in Waterview have been hit hard by people coming in and taking fish. It's marked for residents only but we (the residents) have no problem with responsible folks coming in and fishing. The problem is the non residents coming in with shiners and taking fish out by the bucket fulls. The fishing has gone steadily downhill over the past five years. They have also adopted an aggresive herbicide regimen after removing all of the cattails a few years back... This plus all the pressure these ponds get, the fishing is really tough there unless you catch them on a major feeding cycle. Still some nice fish in there, but they've seen just about everything...
There are a couple of ponds on the course that are still good, but aren't accessible unless a homeowner lets you enter through their backyard and are only fishable in the early morning before the golfers make it to those holes...
I haven't fished the pond @ 549/Horizon but my in-laws live right down the street. Do the police ever give you any problems fishing there? I am on staff at Baylor - perhaps that would help if they roll up on me...???
Thanks, Brent

I know what you mean by being fished by many. I too own a home there in WV. The ponds on 5 & 6 tee box don't get as much pressure as the others. As far as The pond behind Baylor goes, I have never been run off of... But I don't take fish or leave trash. I haven't fished there in 4 years or so though.

Well I hit the Rockwall/Heath ponds on Sunday morning. The pond behind Baylor was locked in by high grass and weeds to the point it wasn't fishable. Looks good and bassy - but unless one of the businesses gave you access through their gate/patio - you can't get to the water. Maybe it would be better in the winter/spring?
Option two was Rainbow Lake- again - completely locked in by weeds/trees... Followed three paths down to the water, all led to a tiny opening that you might be able to fish with a cane pole and a shiner - definately not able to cast or bass fish from there.
Option three: Fox Chase park - fished for an hour, caught a dink and a 2-lber on a lake fork black/red craw. Didn't see much activity in the water, I'm honestly suprised I got the two pounder in there.
Option four: Bank fished Ray hubbard @ Miller Road on the south side (park). Caught four dinks flipping the weeds. Saw a dozen or so snakes - all diamond back water snakes. Looks like a good place to fish with a kayak or john boat. I saw a guy in Kayak loading the boat with Crappie off a submerged tree 100 yards off bank. By 10:00 the place was crawling with people staking out their spot for Sunday at the park.
Option five: came back to the ponds at Waterview. Caught one dink in the front pond. Submerged pond grass is in full force which limits baits. Those poor fish have seen it all - managed to catch a dink on a 7" berkley power worm. He was missing half his face from being caught soo many times. After lunch I took the kids to the main pond for some bream fishing with wax worms. Last night I went back and managed two keeper LMB's with my spro frog - just at dark. Caught those two fish and about a gazillion mesquito bites...
I'm considering not fishing today, even though I have the day off. I'm tired of looking at the ponds in waterview and frustrated with the bass fishing I've found elsewhere in the area. I noticed a couple of ponds listed on the TPW website, near Greenville. Perhaps I'll take a scout trip up there today with the family.
If anyone has any hints/tips or suggestions for small water bass fishing near Rowlett/Rockwall. I'm all ears and will not trash or advertise confidential spots.
Brent
