im not trying to say soap is better than live bait, just wondering if it actually worked as advertised and was a viable way to catch fish
 Thanks and Gig'em!

Well I dont know either, but alot of older fisherman told me to try it. I bought 7 bars at wolly world but havent tried it. Most fishermen try all types of baits and they dont work. The good thing is if the soap dosent work you can wash your hands for a long, long time .

Like I said, chad furguson has a business selling his old family recipe for bait soap. It's called red necks bait soap. I know he did a test with it to see how long it would stay on the hook. The stuff was holding strong after 12+ hrs on a hook submerged in the water. And during that time period he was taking it out of the water and slinging it around to see how well it held. I do know jug and trot liner guys love it. And apperantly they are catching lots of fish with it. I have never used Tue stuff my self, but I would give of a shot. I'm of the mind set try things once. Hell, I've used beef jerkey before as bait just to see if it would work.

You guys use your soap ,I will use fresh shad then we can see who comes out on top. Soap is for using after fishing trip is done.

zote soap works-pink. Jugs or trotline. best to keep it out overnight as it is a slow bite, to slow for rod and reel takes time to dissolve creating odor trail for cats to follow. i've caught up to 19 lb blue on it. cut shad or perch work much quicker, suitable for rod and reel and i've caught much larger on them, but takes more work than soap. Advantage of soap is its quick, cheap, and easy.

I was told ivory soap was the one to use.it floats too. Zote soap is much softer than Ivory and easier to cut for hook size pieces. Ivory will crumble more.

All I have ever used is Ivory. I've tried other stuff, but nothing works better than Ivory and it's cheap! I don't use soap very often, but it does have it's time and place.
