I'm going to do crab fishing and at the same time I'm thinking about casting out two poles. I don't rarely do salt water fishing and I don't have a license. How often does the game warden check license? How much is a salt water license for two days? Anyone can help me what is the best approach on this? Should I risk it or go ahead and get the license?

You need a license!!! Even if crabbing only you will need a license. You can buy a 3 days license with a saltwater endorsment for about $20 to $25 bucks. Dont get caught without it. It will be a he!! of a lot more costly.

Uhm don't break the law, everyone else has to have it, so do you. The license will be a whole lot less than a ticket too.

If you don't have a license and you wanna fish in Galveston, go to Galveston State Park and pay the fee for the day. Inside the confines of the Park you do not need a license, but if you fish anywhere else, you'll need it so go buy one. More trouble w/o one than having one.

Get a license. That money goes back towards the sports we love, and helps protect those fish you are trying to catch. Otherwise you are simply poaching.

Did you know that 100% of your hunting and fishing license fees go to conservation?

It's true,100% of your hunting and fishing license fees go to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for on-the-ground conservation efforts that help make Texas one of the best places in the country to hunt and fish. Fish stocking, wildlife management, habitat restoration, land conservation, and Texas Game Wardens are just some of the initiatives funded in part by your license fees. Thank you for your investment in Texas' natural resources.

The daily fee paid to fish in a state park goes into the same activities?

I know a lot of people intentionally fish without license. I just hope that none of those are TFF member.

If you just want to do one day fishing for fun, buy a one-day license. It's only $10

Yes. When you buy a fishing license it goes to TPWD... same department that owns the State Parks system. If you wade, you are okay within the state park. If you start yaking or paddling out, you might want to check because the laws might change.

It's not worth it. Get a license. If you have kids 17 years or younger they do not need one. State park info above is spot on. Watch your bag limits and size restrictions. You can go to any place that sells licenses and pick up a copy of the Outdoor Annual, it's free. You should read it and learn it my friend.

TPWD website says that licenses expire in Mid August. Would make more sense for me to fish state parks now. And I turn 65 in late July so I get the "old geezer" discount.

i believe you have the choice. All Standard fishing licenses expire in August no matter when you get it. My brother paid extra and got his fishing license year to date, so it's a year from the date he purchases it. I will have to confirm the year to date license though.

@Hill.....I turn 65 in July so fishing state parks until my birthday is making sense. They also offer loaner tackle to give me a chance to get updated on what works after 20 years away from fishing.
