Here is a picture of the rigging on my Tarpon 120. Inside of the hatch, I actually have a power outlet for plugging the GPS into the main battery. If you want to see the pictures, go here:

For pictures of the power outlet, let me know and I'll post those as well. This setup works pretty well for me.

Hey Bonedigger, excuse my ignorance but what is that cross bar used for that is mounted under the GPS? Also, where did you buy the crate? I checked my Ride out yesterday for a milk crate and it is too wide to fit down in the well completely. Yours looks to be less wide than what I have. Yea if you can post pics of the outlet I would be interested. What type of battery are you using? Thanks, Randy

Randy,
The battery is a basic deer tripod feeder battery. You can get these little batteries for less than $20 at any outdoor store (including Academy) and they are much smaller than a typical 12 volt. I purchased mine from Cabelas a couple of years ago. On one charge I can fish for probably three or four full days with the depth finder on.

The "bar" that you are refering to is actually a Scotty rod holder turned to the side. It just looks funny at that angle.

The crate for the back of my kayak came from WalMart. It is a simple upright file crate. As with the Ride, the T120 will not accomodate a milk crate. The plastic on this one is not quite as stiff as a milk crate, but it does the job just fine. I would recommend getting a measurement of your tankwell and then go shopping at the following places: Target, WalMart, BigLots. I was surprised at the number of plastic containers that BigLots actually has, and they are much less than at any of the other stores.

I'll try to get some pictures of the battery/power outlet setup and get those either posted to the website or post them here. It may be the weekend before I can get to it though. Hope that's OK.

Welllllll, I guess I could wait until this weekend for the pics. Thanks for the advice on the crates. I go right past a Big Lots on the way home from work so I will have to stop in there tomorrow. I'm in no hurry on the depth finder and such until I get my income tax check back, but once it gets here I will be completing any rigging I have not done. Maybe some day we can get together and meet out at some lake and do some fishing Todd. I plan to go to Purtis a few times this year and do some camp and fish trips. Thanks for the help Todd, randy

I fish Purtis a lot. Let me know when you are going that way and we'll hook up for a fishing trip. As a matter of fact, Gun Barrel City isn't that far from Tyler, if you need any help with rigging or want to see how I have mine rigged in person, let me know and we'll get together for a rigging session.

I know you have posted to the TKF board as well. Have you thought about joining our Tyler Chapter? We get together occassionaly for a fishing trip. We don't always post to the forum, but we have an e-mail list that stays fairly active. We meet the first Tuesday of each month at a restaurant/bar in Tyler. The April meeting will be this coming Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm. Let me know if you want to know more.

E-mail me at tylercyclist@yahoo.com if you want more information.

Purtis is good right now. I haven't been there yet this summer, but I hear from the park manager that good catches are being reported. Also, the crappie are starting to move up shallower. Catfish have been fair and the bream have been hard to catch, but that'll improve in the next month.

That is a nice setup. I have had a sit in kayak about a year now. About ready to try some fo that stuff. Have been afeared that I will screw up my boat.

Thanks for the invite to the club Bonedigger. It is just too far of a drive for me to to go to. I drive from the lake to Waco 6 days a week, 185 mile round trip. I would really like to be a part of it, but the drive would be difficult at this time. I would like to meet up with you guys some time if that is possible at a lake though. Randy
