So I convinced our friendly resident Rollover Pass guru to let me join him during his next trip to the pass and let me just say this, but not only is Jean one heck of a fisherman, but he is an even better person and personality.

While fishing with Jean Scurtu today I learned so much about fishing the pass and fishing in general that I feel like I just attended the most damn fun fishing seminar ever and it should have cost me a cost me a pretty decent amount of coin! This guy knows how to fish!

While we watched others around us use everything from lures to live bait but not catch a thing for 95% of the day, Jean and I consistently got strikes and landed a lot of fish today using only his rig and method of fishing.

Every time I would land an undersized speck or flounder, Jean would land one just about 4 inches larger haha. I don't know if it was just odd luck that it happened this way, or if it was the fishing gods ways of telling me that Jean is just in a much higher level of fishing than I am (this is true btw)!

The tide was absent most of today in that there wasn't any fast moving water for the majority of the day. However in the past this would have been very discouraging and probably would have resulted in a dissapointing fishing day but this just was not the case today. Jean still managed 3 nice keeper specs (a few that got away ..i think 4) and 3 nice keeper flounder as well as many whiting croaker and sand trout to round out the morning.Meanwhile I was able to quickly learn his rig and have 5 times the normal success I have been accustomed to when fishing Rollover Pass.

Jean took pictures of the trip so hopefully he can share those here in a later post.
Jean`s rig definitely is not conventional or commonly practiced saltwater fishing...but the damn thing works REALLY good! Who needs an Alabama rig when you can get double hookups on two 2" curly shads in the same cast :-)

Jean it was a pleasure to fish with you and I hope to see you again at Rollover Pass. Thanks for letting me join ya today.
