I'd have to dig some up off the iPhone, but the coves are filling up with snakes from what I noticed last weekend

About a week ago, a snake on Fork found a temporary home in my jackplate. My fishin buddy quickly (very quickly)was fishing side by side with me on the front deck.

No pics....but once I was tossing a Popper on a pond and I must have thrown it right onto a snake as he was swimming. When it hit the water the surface exploded and I set the hook. I buried every point of both trebles into that poor snake. That was horrible. I'd rather dig out the deepest backlash imaginable than deal with a pissed off snake on a treble hook.

If it's in the water it's gotta be a water moccasin right. LOL!!

I was fishing a beaver tail on Lewisville in shallow cover and kept getting (perch bites) so I let it soak for a little longer and steady pulled a snake out of that cover. It didn't let go, so I tried to cast it like a C-Rig and it fell off just before I let her rip. I kept it outside the boat the entire time grin

Snakes are not my friend and we generally stay away from each other.

Saw the following just this morning. In fact, it was the biggest thing I caught.

I think it's just a water snake but since this was in a residential pond with lots of kids around (including my own) I decided to dispatch it in case it was a mocassin.

Interesting side note, while it was still in the water by the bank (and I was pondering what to do next) it regurgitated about a 9 inch bull cat. It was amazing how much its mouth expanded when it spit out the fish.

And if you're wondering, that's a watermelon space monkey which retrieved only after I was sure he was good and dead.

Hard to take a picture from 50 yards away, which is where I'm at after seeing a snake. Hate those dang things!!!!

Blotched watersnake. Non-venom but very stinky
