I'm getting ready to buy a small boat, and have seen some kayak stuff I'd like to have. One item is a "dollie" that allows you to roll the yak over land to get to the water, and the other is the foam cushions used when hauling. Cabelas has the dollie for $79, and the pads for $29. Is this about as cheap as I can expect to pick these items up? Where else should I look?

Have you considered making one from PVC pipe? Mine cost ~ $25 including the wheels from Home Depot. GaryA

There are alot of styles built from PVC. You can check out www.texaskayakfisherman.com for various homemade styles. Just do a search on their message board. I like the carts that have larger wheels which can be inflated with a bicycle pump. The larger the tires the easier it is to roll over sand and various conditions. Also another good feature is the ones that allow you to remove the wheels for quick and easy storage. Other than homemade, I doubt you can do better then the one at Cabelas in regards to price. I have the Seattle Sports cart, which I bought at Sun Ski & Sports for $129 at Grapevine Mills Mall. The one at Cabellas looks very similar and the price looks ALOT better also at Cabellas. Here's a link for the Seattle Sports cart at REI: http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductD...ory_rn=11549384 Besides REI, another good yak accesory store is http://www.rutabaga.com/. I didn't really see any good carts on their site however. But they do have foam blocks.

Thanks for the info. Building one is out, I couldn't use pvc due to weight. This is not actually a kayak, but I can use alot of kayak stuff to make life easier.
