Sorry never tried Squaw... 40 bucks to launch is just too rich for me. And catfish? I don't doubt that extensive testing has been done and that the fish are totally safe and all. But I'm sorry, I just ain't eating or serving my family filets that came out of a nuclear reactor lake... Might be totally irrational of me, but I just ain't doing it...

Tom

You're not considering the upside. Eat enough of them and you won't need a 360 light to yak at night!

will they allow you to split the launch cost? then it might be worth it. gators, monster bass, good cats, low fishing pressure, & a power plant lake to boot right? sounds like a winner to me. if i was closer i would have already been there.

The fee is a launch fee not a vehicle entrance fee if I remember correctly when I called last year asking if kayaks were required to pay the fee. Each kayaker would have to pay $40.

$40 to launch a kayak is just nuts! Wheeler Branch is just down the road and has good fish in it.

Pulled this off there site It appears Squaw Creek Park is owned and operated by Luminant.

Hours of Operation
The parks standard hours of operation are 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday for bank fishing, and Friday through Sunday on a limited basis for boat fishing.

Reservations and Fees
Reservations for boat fishing are required; however, guests do not need to register for bank fishing.
The admission fee for bank fishing is $5 per person. Admission for bank fishing is free to those ages 16 and under and 80 and over.
A park maintenance and development fee of $30 (cash only) will be charged per boat.

It appears there very proud of this lake..
