Most people around the Del rio area know of Patch or Patches' Tackle. It is with sad heart I am posting that he lost his long fought battle yesterday. His physical body just gave out. God must have needed a Jolly old soul with a Happy Heart to go fishing with. Prayers for his lovely wife Minnie May and the rest of his family. Patch.. You will be dearly missed.

I knew Patch from back in the late 80's/early 90's when I used to fish Elephant Butte Lake in NM. He was very active in the El Paso bass club.

RIP Patch

Spent many a dollar in his little shop. Great guy. He'll be missed.

You will be truly missed by all of us that have stayed in your rentals and bought the baits that we needed on Amistad from the tackle shop. Both Patch and Minnie have given me many, many years of enjoyment during my stays at Amistad.
May you rest in peace now and God watch over your family.

A FISHERMANS PRAYER
Almighty and all-loving Father, we fishermen thank thee for blessings of thy great outdoors, especially the privilege to pursue our sport as free men and women in a free nation.
We especially thank thee for thy Son Christ, who so loved fishermen that He chose four among His twelve apostles.
In years to come, dear Lord, as each bassin man comes to thee, remember that these are a special breed. Their spirits would not be content to walk alabaster streets as much as.Clear waters with quiet chop. With enough honey holes to last an eternity. And a bassin buddy to share it with. Thanks Leewayne for being that friend.

In Christs name, Amen.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

I met Patch about 6 years ago when he towed me in at Amistad. He drove 60 miles round trip to the Pecos launch by truck and then drove 16 miles round trip by boat to tow me back as the sun was setting. I thought I am really going to pay big bucks for this tow. When we got back to the launch I asked "How much do I owe you." His reply was "Just pay me for the gas." I gave him more, but that day he gave me a lesson in the true goodness in all of our hearts. I never saw him again, but my prayers are with him.
God bless you Patch!
