I need some help on choosing a paddle for my pescador 12 I'm fixing to purchase. I've done my homework on the net but I'm still stuck on what to get that's not really expensive. I'll be paddling mostly in lake Palestine and going up into some of the creeks mouths that run into the lake so not like I'm going white water or heavy current. But I might need to cover some distance as well. Also can anyone give me some tips on making a orange caution flag that can sit in my crate setup? Or where I could buy one. Thanks!

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn

Accent, Werner and Onno would be my top three paddle makers. I have an Accent and love it. They have paddles across a broad price range. The Aquabound Manta Ray Carbon offers a lot of bang for the buck.

I have a 240 cm bending branches paddel and I am happy with it. I use it from the high seat in my Diablo. APT in hurst carries them. As stated above go with the best you can afford, it makes a difference IMO.

I am partial to Werner but that is because I like the way they finish out there ferrule, Accent, Onno and Adventure Technologies all make good ones that I know of. They are just like kayaks try all of them you can before you buy something. Paddles, pfd's and kayaks all have a personal investment so you will get a lot of opinion, the only way to find the right one for you is to get on the water with them.

I have a Werner Skagit and I like it. Like Bert said it is a matter of preference. Just remember the lighter ones take less energy to paddle with but the ultralights might be to "fragile" for some to use. I use mine to push off of trees etc. and it hasn't even come close to giving me a reason to think it would break. I like they way it is constructed and the finish is nice also. The rest of my family all have Carlisle Magic Plus ones that I got on clearance at Academy. If we continue to paddle a lot I wouldn't be against upgrading everyones paddle to something they prefer. I went with a cheaper one at first, but just upgraded to the Aquabound Manta Ray Carbon. Its night and day... spend as much as you can afford.
