Well we got out on the water around 6:30 and headed south. At first we were just trying
To figure out were the gravel pits were. But we never made it that far.

We found a single boat fishing a hump and he said we could join him so we dropped in a line. A few minutes later .... Pow!!!! A nice little Sandie. Then another and another. Caught 12 all together. 10 sandies and 2 hybrid. We only kept 8 of the sandies. One hybrid was a descent size and we caught a baby hybrid. We threw those back to catch another day.

So the sun was going down and all the boats were starting to leave so we decided to pack up and head home. Crank crank crank wiiiiiine!!!! The engine wouldn't !!!!!!!

We tried and tried to no avail. The starter had gone out and wouldn't turn over. Luckily Leo a local fisherman and Dallas police officer was still around and noticed we were stranded and offered us a tow to chandlers. We gladly accepted .

My first trip out in my new boat on a unfamiliar lake was bitter sweet. Had a great night of fishing finished up with some frustration. But all in all I caught some
Good fish and met some really cool people

Two years ago we were camping at Lavon with my parents and decided to hit the water and had a coil go out. Thing would idle fine but got past the no wake buoy and she wouldn't do but 1200 rpms. I was very upset because I really wanted to do some with my Dad. Thanks to Rockwall marine I was back on the water the next week. It happens to everyone!!

Sorry to hear about your boat, but being invited over to fish beside someone that you do not know and catching fish is what this forum is about. Most of the guys on Hubbard are willing to let you fish right beside them as long as you are using your trolling motor and fishing respectfully. I will look to see you on the water.

I just had the same starter problem last week. Was spinning, but not engaging with the flywheel to start the engine. Had boat ready to go to Rockwall Marine. Called the guys and they told me to try a little oil on the starter shaft before I brought it in. Put a couple drops on there and manually twisted the starter shaft up and put a couple more drops and the dang thing started working again. They said sometimes the old grease gets gummed up in there. Saved a bunch of money! May be worth a shot if you haven't already taken it in.
