Mike Frazier at Camelot Bell and Todd Overton at Overton Fisheries are thrilled to announce an exciting once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for private pond and lake owners. Premium Camelot Bell lunker bass fingerlings produced from a 13.5# female Florida largemouth bass will go on sale the week of May 14. This trophy sow brood-stock was one of many hundred lunkers produced at Camelot Bell, a 40-acre private lake originally stocked in 1998 but already full of double-digit fish, and on its way to producing a private water state record. The current lake record is 15.5#, caught in 2012. Lunker fingerlings will be available for purchase during the week of May 14-19. The fingerlings can be delivered (freight charge applies) or picked up at Overton Fisheries if pre-ordered. If you or someone you know has a new or renovated pond or lake full of baitfish and ready for new largemouth bass fingerlings, then jump all over this opportunity like a bass on a bullfrog. Also consider these if you are interested in upgrading the gene pool of your existing fishery.
Mike Frazier and Todd Overton want to see these unique genetics spread around the country. Our process for producing these fingerlings has been documented with video of the broodstock lunker female being stocked and with video of fry sampling. This lunker female and the 6 select males used for spawning were all caught on hook and line. Monster fish from Camelot Bell have been well documented by owner Mike Frazier, as he guides on his own private lake. See the pics at www.camelotbell.com

The unique pure Florida bass at Camelot Bell are built to be trophies. They have pronounced shoulders and a frame that is designed for huge growth potential. The iridescent gold reflection across their backs even makes them stand out among other bass. The fingerlings have a green spot on their heads and also show the gold iridescent marking.

Book your order for the lunker fingerlings today.

Here is a report on the Camelot Bell Lunker bass fingerling production program. All out success. If you recall, a 13.5# female was stocked along with select males with the goal of producing fingerlings available to the public.

We seined the fingerling production pond on 5/14/2012, and we graded the stocker size cannibals (already sold, by the way), at 3" length, and returned several thousand 1.5"-2" fingerlings to the pond for ~10 days further grow out. We will catch more cannibals and hopefully larger size fingerlings next time around.

The fingerling production pond at Camelot Bell produced many thousands of offspring, which are available for purchase. Book your orders by contacting Overton Fisheries.

Todd,

I commend you for your efforts. I am on the side of the fence that there is probably something special about the genetics. Many I have spoken to, believe it is strictly environment. I think it is both and I'm glad you are pushing the industry to take more advancements in private lake genetics.

Thanks for taking the lead!

Finally...a hatchery breeding fish by design rather than default. I can only hope the fingerlings are bringing a decent price, fish have been too cheap for too long, especially well bred fish.

Bass, and other species, should be selectively bred for desirable characteristics and not just for a lot of offpsring. I hope to see bass bringing the kind of prices I used to get for my koi. $5K for a pretty good 16 incher....$100/whack for nice six inchers.

In a similar attempt to up breed bass, I used a 14.5 pound nearly 27 inch female in one of my production ponds this year. The fish was taken from my fishing club in Brazoria County. Interesting thing, she had two very distinct spawns roughly six weeks apart.

Most of the bass I've bred are not from such large stock, as they've been selected now for over thiry years to be "easily caught." Not an easy thing to do as finding many lakes and ponds to maintain seperate blood lines is an issue. Hence my not telling folks which golf course ponds might be good places to fish around Houston....

I took the "hogs" (extra fast growing fingerlings) from most of my production this year and used them to stock my newly filled and forage stocked reservoir of 30 acres. It too will be a future source for breeding stock.

Been awhile back, but I brought "new blood" in from Rodman Reservoir on the Ocklawaha River in Florida to add length to the great girth of the lines I've been working with.

Looks like I might want to get some of those "Bell" fish for some new blood also. Kudos to Overton Fisheries for a well thought out breeding plan.

I appreciate your support Fishbreeder. It is good to see that you are also progressive in your quest to grow fish. Please just let us know if you want some.

Next week May 29 - June 2 is the last opportunity for you to purchase Camelot Bell Lunker Fingerlings from the 13.5# female.

We also have Camelot Bell fingerlings (not from the big 13.5lb momma, but from same bloodline) at the farm available now.

Here is video of the previous lunker fingerling harvest:

Get on the list for next week! todd@overtoncentral.com

Photos below are 6 month old Camelot Bell stockers obtained from Overton Fisheries the past Friday. We stocked 8 that were 12 - 14 inchers tnat were the pick of the litter - Todd called them "jumpers". The smaller CB LMB in first photo are typical 6 month old fish.
Also picked up a couple dozen or so CNBG and RedEar sunfish to supplement existing high quality forage base, including tilapia.

I know it is difficult to grow big bass in a 2 acre pond but we will be culling as many pure Florida LMB as we can to lower numbers in order to kick start CB genetics for next spring spawn.

Exciting!

George,

Best of luck. We also stocked several thousand in various lakes this Spring. I stocked one brand new 70 acre lake with 2500 of them.

As you know the best genetics, can't overcome a weak food chain. But, I stocked them in lakes were I felt we had landowners who were committed to pumping the lakes with forage.

We too are excited.

I would like to see a follow up report in 5-7 years about these fingerlings. They should be around the dd mark. Please keep us updated.
