Anyone fish Mountain Creek? Since I kayak fish and don't keep the fish I have been wanting to fish this local lake. I know it has a fish ban because of the heavy chemicals due to the Naval Air Station. An electofishing survey was done from 1987 thru 1993 and it was rated very high in comparison to the local lakes around DFW. Many bass, bluegill and crappie were captured in fish/hour. Since it is hardly fished this may have many fish that are just waiting for a lure to zip by. White Rock Lake was rated very good also.

Robin,
The survey was copied from Our Inland Fisheries dated 1995.
Largemouth Bass
White Rock 206 fish/hr avg
Grapevine 199, Mountain Creek 193, Benbrook 163, Arlington 154

Bluegill
Arlington 317 ea, Mountain Creek 270, Worth 254, Eagle Mtn 254, Grapevine 249

Crappie
White Rock 53, Worth 21, Mountain Cr 21

Of course these figures are very old and conditions change, but Mountain Creek has basically been unfished and may have a lot of fish in it. I just need to get out there and check it out.

The lake is probably loaded with bass since fishing pressure is so light. The only thing I worry about is some-one breaking into my truck while I'm fishing. Its a pretty crummy neighborhood! Would also love to put a kayak in those ponds along I-30 and loop 12 but again I worry about the criminal element. frown
