warrick sorry i just got the post.. but for the next time on 30 just east of 820 in fort worth exit east chase park way off 30 and go south to the fisrt stop light which is meadowbrook( i think) its the first stop light south of 30 if you turn right you go in to a srtip mall parking lot..any way turn left and go down about 3-4 miles and i think its the 4th or 5th light the street is called greenbelt and take a left and go down 1/2 mile or so and you'll come to a bridge and pull off right before the bridge on the right and you'll see a dirt road that runs next to the bridge follow it to the creek 30 yds and park and go down next to the bridge and put in paddle up till you have to get out and walk the walk up to water discharge and bank fish back down till you have to get back in your boat and then float back down to the bridge....

I hit this spot last weekend and had a great time, caught about a dozen small bass. I feel like i would have done better if I downsized my lures. Getting in and out could have been a problem if I had not brought some rope. My yak is 10'6" and pretty heavy. If the weather is ok, i'll head out there again in the morning. Thanks for helping me find this new spot and i hope to see yall out there.

Water clearity is the key to fishing that area the water has to be rain free for at least 5 days to get into good fishing...as far as lures i have used a small white spinning bait and a small broken minnow...have caught bass that where about 6 in long to a 2 1/2lb bass all on small lures...the guys i go with throw bigger spinner and minnows and dont catch the #'s i do... todate 30 is my personal record on the river...getting in and out is tough by yourself...if weather is good next weekend i'll try to go let me know and i'll show you the area a little better....

Whent back out sat. am, and caught a ton, between 20 and 25. All small, nothing over a pound, although I did see a 2-3 pounder swimmin in the shallows. Saw lots of carp and maybe a couple of drum. Downsized my lure to a 4 inch craw texas rigged. Very aggresive small bass, some let me slowly drag them to the boat, without setting the hook, before they would let go. I was amaized at how hard a three inch bass could hit a four inch lure.

Its kind of weird down there! The fish are very aggresive and all of them are very healthy to be in the trinity...

yak, let me know when you want to go back. i have been using a 16' scanoe and it works fairly well in that lake. do you think i can paddle this canoe alone in the river? how's the current?

yak,
have you scouted any of the soil conservation reservoirs south of joe pool lake off of 287? on google maps they seem to be pretty large lakes (bigger than bowie). i heard they are open to the public and stocked.
