Check out these pics! Catching a Tarpon out of the kayak is a great accomplishment in itself but one this big is just awesome.

I have in-laws in Florida. Might even be worth the trip!

They have even bigger Tarpon that come up here in Jacksonville or NE Florida. But I am too busy targeting Bass to make a trip to the beach. lol.

Saw a show with Capt,n Kevin Favor where he and his clients where catching Tarpon over 100lbs in 7 feet of water right off of the St. Augustine beach. You could see people in the surf right behind them. Sharks also where being caught. They said those people could no doubt catch Tarpon like this from the beach using a surf rod.

Not sure what month that was but if I had to guess it would be August or September. They were outside Guana State Park in St.Augustine.

One of these days. I am just not sure what would be needed to land a fish like that standing from the shore. In a boat you can always go with the fish but not from the shore. That would be fun though.

Did you all know that if you fish from the shore and you do not go into the water that you do not need a license to fish here? As long as your toes never enter the water or in a boat you can fish from a pier, or from the bank and do not need a fishing license. Pretty amazing.
