GREAT NEWS GANG!!!!
We've been given a green light! Based on numerous factors: current stocking from TP&WL, current shad populations, water conditions, the future of the stocking program, etc., the TP&WL would love to partner with us to make Lake Ray Hubbard a better hybrid striped bass fishery. I've got a quick form to fill out that was emailed to me today, but then we are official.
We are going to need some legwork to get this off of the ground. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED! Come one, come all. Just post a reply on here on what you are willing to do or what you are good at.
So now we need to start getting serious. Are online polls okay with you guys as we are going to need to get some details hashed out?
For example.... Are we going to use our existing Lake Ray Hubbard Fishing Club as the entity that will be responsible for buying the fish? Do we need to start another organization like the one on Tawakoni? The Lake Ray Hubbard Sportman Association? The Lake Ray Hubbard Sportfishing Association? Please post your thoughts guys if you are going to participate in this with us.
Varner..... Will you be in charge of the look / logo of our group?
Superduck.... Can you and BlueTuna look at
www.LakeTawakoniSportsman.com and get a plan of action for a website. We need to be able to get donations via the web as they do at Tawak.
What do you guys think of the different levels of membership mentioned previously?
Silver - $50
Gold - $100
Platinum - $250
With the platinum level you get a t-shirt with the organization name on it or something. Atta, you mentioned you do something of this nature I think? I don't mind paying for getting the t-shirts made, but I would need to be payed back. Varner, we would need your brains on the design of the shirts.
I DON'T WANT TO BE THE TREASURER.
I can get a P.O. Box once we have an official name so that we can receive payments.
Who can check into getting 501 (3)(C) status? We will be a non-profit but we will have some expenses like the website, the shirts, etc. I don't know where to begin on something like that so hopefully someone can take the reins here. Oser maybe?

And finally, what do you think about a few elected officials? We need someone we trust to hold the money, keep the books, etc., until we have enough pooled to buy the little fishies.
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE IMPACT WE CAN HAVE ON OUR FISHERY.I think we are close to 10 Platinum level commitments already, so that's $2,500. Let's say our local fishing guides host a tournament for us each year (Bombay, Varner, Doug, etc.) in which all money raised is donated to us. Let's assume that's another $2,500. If we get Bass Pro Shop, possibly some of the marina's too, to donate some "corporate level" sponsorship money we can put their names on the t-shirts or something. It shouldn't be hard for us to put together $10,000 if we all pitch in a little.
$10,000 will buy us approximately 50,000 hybrid fingerlings, delivered, and the TP&WL has agreed to help us get them to the center of the lake upon delivery to keep those pesky ditch pickles and brim from eating them. That is an enormous impact! That is half of what the state puts in their now but they have been unpredictable recently. We will essentially be the guarantee that we stay one of the top lakes for hybrid striped bass.
Please take some time to offer your thoughts, or better yet, commit to help out. Should we plan on a get-together sometime in June to work through some of this?
Tight lines my friends,
Jackson
