N2fishin and I are either hitting Big Creek or the Palestine city lakes tomorrow. If anyone wants to join us, let us know. I'll be out at a social engagement for awhile, so I may not be able to respond until pretty late this evening.

Hey Fishbrain,

I would like to join you guys tomorrow. I was planning on going to Purtis or Fork, but would be happy to travel to Palestine or even Big Creek. Let me know ASAP, I will be at a the Willie Nelson concert tonight after 7:30. Feel free to call me until midnight. I would prefer to carpool if possible.

Well.....

We went to the little gems outside of Palestine. BEAUTIFUL day! Warm, thin, high clouds, light breeze. Water temps in the upper 50s. Should be perfect, but...one little surprise--water looked like chocolate milk. rolleyes The hydrilla/coontail hasn't gotten thick enough yet to filter it out, so it wasn't pretty. We marked tons of fish all over the lake, but almost every one was firmly planted on the bottom, and, whatever they wanted, we didn't have it. We threw everything in the book at 'em, but between the three of us, not a freakin' bite! To add insult to injury, as we arrived and were putting in, some lady in a jonboat hauls in a nice fish on a spinnerbait. Sure looked promising, but...NOT. Don't you hate it when you take someone to one of your favorite honey holes, and you all get abused by the fish? frown Sorry to Wayne and Terry--there really are bigguns in there! We'll go back late spring/early summer, after the vegetation is grown up a bit, and I promise we'll find some fish. Enjoyed fishing with ya, and I hope to enjoy CATCHING with ya next time! wink

No worries fishbrain....you know it's been a bad day of fishing when the only bedding behavior you see is your fishing partner curled up on the dock sound asleep. Had a good time anyways with you and Wayne. Hopefully we will get them next time. -T

Sounds like our trip to HCL, FB! Things are getting a bit tight for me these days with gas prices and all, I need to get the tube out more to save some green, heck I caught more fish from the tube anyway! Just need the water to get a bit warmer...
