Let's start thinking about having a few spring tournaments! Let's focus on north Texas. I'm thinking one in March, one in April, and one in May. These will probably be the later half of each month. Thought on locations? (No one suggest Aquilla--too many freakin' trotlines and not enough fish!) I would like to have another at a Grasslands lake. Maybe we could skip the fee if we agree to do some community service afterwards, like trash cleanup or the like. Any ideas?

Make one of them the last week of March or first week of April, and I am there for sure. What is the scoop on the Palestine City Lakes? Would that be a good option for a tourney? I have never been there, but wanting to go.

Sounds like lots of fun. I mostly fish for crappie and other panfish, but do catch an occasional black bass in the process. A 5 1/2 pounder scared me to death on Purtis Creek last summer in my sad little Caddis float. (I've since upgraded to a Hobie Float Cat 60. I love it!)
I'd sure like to hang around guys that know the finer techniques (well any technique will do) to catch black bass. Maybe I'd learn a thing or two. So count me in to your spring tournament series. I look forward to it.

Welcome to the TFF TxnAngler! It's a great site, and lots of friendly knowledgeable people willing to help.
If you're not aware, on the main float tube page, prior to reading this post, you can use the drop down window on the right side to show you older posts. There is a ton of info already on this page, and you might find some helpful hints.

I hear that, Kelly, with one possible exception: Grapevine. The slot there is reasonable, and almost everyone at least caught fish at the last tourney there.
Texascanepole,
Don't know Cedar Park--where is that?

I'll toss out a few ideas.
1) Bonham City Lake (lots of cat-tail around the shore, and we haven't fished it.
2) Big Creek (plenty of BIG fish in that lake.)
3) How about Amon Carter? I enjoyed fishing out there last year when we went.
4) Waxahachie would also be a good choice.
5) Lake Nocona would be a blast for a tourney!
6) If people are willing to drive to Canton, I'd like to do one on Mill Creek. I've yet to fish it, but it's got a big fish reputation.
None of these are slot lakes. If you just want to do one close to Ft Worth, how about let's try having one at Marine Creek.
