They say a rod will cast further because it restricts the amount the line moves as it comes off the reel. Also the tighter eye allows the rod to be more sensitive. But Gary Loomis was the Bass Pro in Garland a few weeks ago and he did not think they were worth it. How much better of a reference can you get? The drawback is a leader knot doesn't cat through it effectively. The line heats up straining through them, and that is a consideration with fluorocarbon. I don't think I will opt for them in my purchases.

Cast further , more sensitive, and give you better fighting ability over the fish. You will eathier like them or hate them. They definitely have their place. Up north they will freeze up in cold weather and I see them in my shop with the eye broke off the foot or the insert out just as I do on concept but more so. It is all a preference.

You are supposed to be able to cast far , and have more sensitivity ... As in casting far its supposed to reduce the amount of friction on the guides which makes sense in a way.

I personally like micro guides. I like them in all situations. After I bought my first one that's all I will buy from now on.

Being lighter they can put more eyes on the rod(sensitivity). More guides, less line loop on cast(distance)

Hate them. Bought a new St. Croix Tournament edition carolina rig rod online and did not know it had them. I will get them replaced soon.

In their current state of engineering I DO NOT like them. Have tried three different ones with the same result. The eyelets break off really easy. They no support at all on the rod. Small thin eyelets just don't cut it for me. Took all the micro guide rods back to get old school again.

I have the Falcon Cara Head Turner Micro Guide and I love it. Have caught a get big fish on it with no problems, I broke one on accident but it was in no way due to fishing. I have noticed an increase in sensitivity. And I do think it helps with casting distance, definitely when fishing in the wind. I will say this though, like someone else posted, big names don't seem to like them. Dobyns has micro guides now, and at a seminar last year, Gary said he hated them, he's just making them because he knows people love them and will buy them. His rods were sick, extremely light and had the most eyes on a micro guide that I've seen. I think it had 15.

I've got a few rods with them, here's what I have to say.

Smaller, go in rod socks great and can fit more rods in box
The rods I have them on I can cast really far with, although I have the new lews tourney pros on them, so that helps too. Jury's still out on if it's the reel, the rods them selves or the guides. Need to stick one of my premiers or smokes on one and see if it still casts as good.

I don't like them for flipping however, too hard to grab the line with it that close to the rod

For casting Rods, so far I love them.

I was skeptical at first, but I was sceptical to put down my round 5500c's at one time too.....

Between my failing eyesight and shaky hands, I'd never get the line through the guides!
