My 6 year old is competing in a small fishing competition on Joe Pool this weekend as a part of an Indian Guides camp-out. Hoping to put him on some fish. We're camping in Cedar Hill State Park. Any recos on patterns or spots for that particular part of the lake?

PS - I asked the same question for the competition he entered on Ray Roberts several weeks ago and thanks to the advice we got from this forum, he won the event...so thanks a ton to you guys for always being so helpful!!

I don't know much about shore spots, but if you have a boat, I would work the points toward the dam. Where the creek runs into the first cove right at the dam on that side is usually a good spot. I would rig him with a mojo rig ( small carolna rig) and a 3 1/2 inch Grande baby rattle snake in chartruese/pepper.

Good luck in the competition!!

Wayne

My daughter always has luck at across from the bait shop fishing the rocks in the cove. She will catch 1-2.5lb bass or decent crappie all day on minnows or Texas rigs. If your going for catfish then the same spot and face the wind with sink bait or chicken liver and you should get pan size cats. Good luck.

Nick
