After moving back to Houston I am finally making it up to my favorite tubing lake. Any suggestions for fishing Purtis this time of year from the tube? Thanks

Wes

Well, Terry and I are thinking probably Wednesday for sure. Were trying to coordinate personal stuff with weather. Anyway, if you can make it we would love to have you join us, or anyone else for that matter. Right now I'm trying to figure out a strategy for this time of year.

I think I might be able to hook up with you guys. N2fishin-2 and Fishin-addiction are also in. We'll at least be able to put enough baits in front of 'em that they'll have a hard time ignoring us! When are y'all headed out?

At this point, I think I will be leaving Houston early Wed morning, hitting Purtis Wed. afternoon and possibly Thurs. morning if the weather holds out. Should be a good time. I'll let you know more specifics later today. My phone number is 832-217-8298(cell) so we don't have any problems finding you guys.

Gentelmen,

Wes and I are planning on meeting at 9 am Wednesday morning at the Big Cheif Marina on Cedar Creek and fishing the 334 Bridge for crappie. We will be at Purtis Wed. afternoon and probably camp that night and fish Thursday too. You guys are welcome to camp with us. Hopefully we can have some crappie for dinner. If anyone wants to ride with me from Irving, just call me tonight at 972-313-3741

Terry

Terry and Wes,

Sorry guys--I'm out. My kids' sitter is unavailable tomorrow, so I'm going to take them to the museum and hang out with 'em. Catch a bunch! BTW, you guys haven't posted in awhile. Keep in touch, and we'll go fishin' another time.

Well...

The bass bite at Purtis was nothing to write home about, but the 32 slab crappie that we caught at Cedar Creek more than made up for the bad fishing at Purtis Creek. Wes and I only fished for a few hours Wednesday evening at Purtis without a bite, but everyone that we talked to said that the bass bite had been pretty much non-existant. We unsuccessfully threw crank baits, rattle traps, senkos, and jigs into grass edges, deep timber, off points, and under the pier.

The crappie at cedar creek were caught under the 198 and 334 bridges with home made jigs. All fish were caught about two feet below the submerged cross-member between the pylons. Most of the fish were between 1.5 and 2.0 lbs.

Terry
