Heading to port aransas in mid may. Wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a off shore trip 6-8 hours?

8 hours or longer. 12 preferably. Otherwise it's more of boat trip and not much of fishing trip. DSH or the Scat Cat at Fisherman's Wharf would be my choices.

I would definitely choose Deep Sea Head Quarters. Don't expect to catch anything on a 5 hour. 8 hour is often hit or miss, but we USUALLY each come back with something. LandPirate is right. 12 hour is definitely the way to go. You get a lot more for your money, and a lot better chance at some fish. Going with DSH allows you more fishing time than the other boats due to the faster ride. Fisherman's Wharfs boats are bigger and a little more stable. I am planning my next 12 hr trip with DSH in June. Last time I went (during snapper season) the boat limited out on red snapper in 30 minutes. On the way to the snapper spot we spent time catching everyone's limits on sharks next to shrimp boats. Last, we spent time fishing near oil platforms catching king fish.

Before I got my boat, I use to do the 12 hour on the Scat and Warf cat... You got to get on the boat first to secure your location.. I always liked one of the back corners, seemed like you had more room.
Couple of years back I was working for this family owned company as one of the senior managers and I convinced the owner to charter out the Dolphin Express. I was actually amazed how cheap it was, for an 8 hour day, we had the whole boat for under $800. We were able to bring our own coolers and told the captain what we wanted to fish for. Had a blast..
My Pop always said, big bait.... Big Fish!!!!
