What have you guys noticed as far as which gets more strikes? I personally don't have confidence in the clacker type...

No clacker for me. I think they work best when they produce more of a bubbling sound personally.
You know the old saying
If it floats, flys, or f___s it is always cheaper to rent!
You have to decide which is more important.

Personally I have always caught more on buzzbaits without the clacker.

I think it depends on the fish. You and your partner should throw one of each and which seems to be getting the most bites throw. We try both.

I seem to do better with a clacker in spring and early summer, without in late summer & fall.

This is the formula I use as a baseline to start with and then modify to fit what the fish on a particular lake like. Its not a 100% fool-proof deal since fish activity levels may dictate larger and louder than normal or smaller and quieter than normal. Sometime fish on a particular lake just like a certain style of bait better for no apparent reason at all.
If you have a flat day and clear water a small buzzbait with no clacker. Slight chop and clear water medium sized buzzbait, no clacker. Alot of chop and clear water larger buzzbait, no clacker.
Flat day and stained to muddy water small buzzbait with a clacker. slight chop and stained to muddy medium with clacker or multiple bladed buzzbait. Alot of chop and stained to muddy larger buzzbait with clacker or multiple bladed.
At night a clacker.

Great question, I'm interested in everyone's opinion on this one.
