Good idea, Ron. But, what if we met during the week before, say on a Wednesday or Thursday. We would then have time to email or call all participants and wouldn't have to get out so early (since we usually begin at 6:00 a.m.). It would require preregistration, but I can get registration brochures printed out this week and, with some help, distribute them next week. What do ya think?

Fishbrain, if you have an extra setup, I'd be interested in fishing. You'll have to stay close to me, though. I'm skeared of snakes laugh laugh laugh

Anyone with a good suggestion for a name?

The Fall Float?
Texas Tube-off?
The Belly-Boat Bash?
Another Win for Randy (other one)?

Shane,

You've got mail, sir.

Instead of printing brochures, why not just use word or acrobat. Then they can just be e-mailed. Should make your life a bit simpler.

A name for the tourney? How about ... First Annual LSFTA Tourney

Randy Randy Randy, he deservedly gets all the hype, but the Grapevine slot limit saved him last year. I felt the need to talk a lil smack since I have been unable to fish much this year.

Nvatexan,

The brochures will just be for distribution around the area, to places like Academy, BPS, etc.
I probably will just email the info to anyone responding here or to the webpage.

Sorry, Suddzies, but it will be tubers only, unless you want to use your hands/feet to move your yak around. Of course, it would be no problem at all to acquire one for you to use, if you wanted. Just let me know.

Nonboater,

Sorry, but this one will be up within an hour/two of the metroplex. If you think there would be enough interest and know a good location, maybe we could set one up down your direction later on. I'd be glad to help publicize it and could send you any documents you might need. In the meantime, what's a little ol' five hour drive when fishing is on tap? smile

Fishbrain: I asked this question last year, but never got to fish any tournaments. I have a 7 ft styro foam Kick Boat that I power with scuba fins. Would you allow me to fish the tournament from this.

You bet--you can fish from a 21-ft. Nitro, so long as it is propelled with kick fins! wink

If memory serves me correctly, that was the only stipulation that we had, is that whatever you fish from has to be "kick powered"

Yup...when I wrote out the draft for the rules and sent it to Jerry, it said something along the lines of "Kick fin power only. No oar, wind, electric, gas or other propulsion devices allowed".

We were just wanting to keep it fair for everyone. Didn't want it to grow into a 'keepin' up with the Jones' type event where you had to go buy a trolling motor for your tube just to be competitive.

Randy, if you don't have a copy of the rules from last year, I still have them on my home PC, and can email them to you. You can change them as you see fit. I know Jerry had a PC crash, so I don't know if he still has them.

Thanks, Kelly. I have a written copy and, I think, an electronic one. I'll let you know if I can't locate it.

I see, I thought you were just having a tournament with the folks on TFF.

The more the merrier! We're still working out some details, but I plan to update my website this weekend, including downloadable entry forms and brochures. Also, I'll be contacting potential sponsors. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to pass them on!

The date is going to be October 2nd. If anyone wants to fish but doesn't have a tube, let me know. Several of us have extra tubes and fins, and we are very willing to share with anyone who needs one.
