Gorgeous!!! Looks like she's recovered from the rigors very well! James is one of the LFM guides who is always on 'em. Good job, JC! It's a great fish but would be even better if his client caught it. Not trying to bash James but most people don't want to pay to see their guide catch a big fish. I have fished with several well respected guides on different lakes and saltwater as well and I can tell you that James is one of the best. Unfortunately none of the guides can make a 10 lb+ fish bite someone's line but they can put you in the best opportunity to catch a fish like that. My guides have always tried to put me in the best position to catch fish and they would rather see their client catch the biggest and most fish. I see post like this on here and wonder why you would hire a guide if you don't want them to fish at all? Most including James won't fish if the bite is good. But when it gets tough or if there is only one person in the boat, it is a good idea for them to fish to help locate the fish and try a different lure and/ or technique to try to get a pattern going. Fishing can change from week to week, day to day, or even hour to hour. I hire a guide to learn a new body of water, learn new techniques, learn how to better use my electronics, learn different patterns, and how to improve a technique that I already know. How many times have you fished in a boat with someone throwing the exact same bait and watch them real in fish after fish while you can't buy a bite? Maybe they are fishing it slower, faster, more erratic? That's why I want my guide to fish, so I can watch his exact presentation and try to mimic it. Whoever hires the guide can decide if they want him to fish but make sure you tell them beforehand so you are not disappointed the rest of the day. But I think you will be missing out on some very important lessons if you do. Better yet, just pay the guide to be a follow boat or pay them for some spots to fish if that's all you want to learn. Well put- Just say nice fish and if you can't help yourself, start a new topic, Should your guide fish- Kind of gets old seeing the negative comments-

Why would you not want to watch a guide fish, there could be a lot to learn watching his presentation methods if you ask me.
Great fish!

I see your all your points. I personally do not like guides to fish. I probably should have started a new thread. In my opinion the guides are usually a better fisherman than the clients so they are going to catch more fish.

A good guide can teach and fish at the same time. I want my guide fishing and as mentioned above, throwing something different than what I am.

Well if you want to become a better fisherman or better whatever hang around with the guys who can smash you in the ground. You might learn something. The last time somebody took me fishing and didnt fish was probably my dad when I was 3 showing me how to use my zebco 33...

Let me tell you something....I was in the boat with him when he caught one almost 11 lbs. I learned from watching how he handled the fish and boated her. You can learn a ton by watching him and he will show you anything he knows. Don't hate on my favorite guide please:)He actually does not fish the entire time he is guiding, just a little and he can't help it if Senorita Bucketmouth happens to be on the other end of his line.

Ok first of all, we don't even know who his clients were...they may have not even known when or how to set the hook!!! I have fished with James and I can promise you this, had I asked him if I could reel that fish in, he wouldn't have blicked twice! Prime example...we pull up on a deep water point and James throws in his "special" jig and whack, first cast. I am on the front deck with him and he said "Here, throw this" we didnt wear em out but caught several nice slots and he stayed busy getting me unbuttoned on all the stumps.
How could you deprive a fellow Angler/Guide of not fishing... They work their a$$ off staying on them for our benefit(and money)lol
Nice fish James
