I'm new at fishing the Killeen/Belton area as well as new to the boards. Howdy! Anyway, where are a couple of good areas I can take my poor man's bass boat (14' John) to hit up some channels or even blues? I may even shore fish, just all depends.
Thanks in advance!

Smaller lakes (on the Belton side of Ft Hood), but I've had decent luck on them: Heiner, Nolan, and Larned. All require an area access permit ($15 for the year, for all areas) from the Sportsman's Center on Ft Hood. Their are additional rules that apply to those lakes also.. just hit up the Sportsman's Center for directions and all the info (and yes, the area access permits are available to civilians).

Fish the timber where the river feeds into Stillhouse with punch bait.

Thanks for the advice, guys. When are the best times to catch 'em?
