It took 15 minutes or maybe more. Couldn't have done it without your help!

So the fish, according to Mr. Steve, who took it home for dinner, was 32" and weighed 14lbs. It dragged me around for about 15 minutes while Steve caught about four more stripers and a skipjack. Keep in mind that up to this point I had caught one skipjack and zero stripers, and broke off what I was pretty sure was a good-sized buffalo. I finally took his advice and kicked my way to shore, where he was gracious enough to help land the thing, partly by discovering that it would not fit in his net.

There's a certain irony in the largest fish I've caught on the fly being one of... those critters. Suffice it to say that I will not be taking up noodling any time soon. Or ever, in fact.

JackMa sure knows how to play a fish as that badcat had 'break a leader written' all over him.

its a Blue Cat I say.

and he is singing the blues now

The ONLY reason to fish with a fly rod in Texas
is to throw a POPPER, casting any other type fly just means you're doing something.
