It has been updating in my computer for 30 min and is only 5% complete.
Will it hurt the info on my chip if I stop the download?

It may take a while depending on your connection speed, I would let it run.

I assume you are talking about updating through the Navionics computer app thing?? I just updated mine last week and it took at least 3-4 hours. I just let it continue to update and went to bed, and the next morning it was complete and ready to go. I probably would not stop the download after you started it though.

Mine will get to about 10% complete, and without fail, it pops up every time and says that the download did not finish and I have to start over. I am about to the end of my rope with the pos.

Divide the file size by your internet upload speed to figure the time, and then stay off the internet while it's downloading. Just like any large file, it will [censored] out if you try to do too much else at the same time or have really slow internet. The online updates are not for dial-up users.

In all honesty, if it's much of an issue for you at all, just stick with what's on the card. The likelihood that they updated something relevant to you is very small.
