A friend took me to some private ponds by Lake Whitney Saturday and I fished out of a tube for the first time. I caught about 15 or so all about 14-17". I am afraid I may need some help with this oncoming addiction. OH, wait a minute, you are all addicted too so why am I asking you for help. What a great time it was. Dennis

You probably just need someone to show you some more great tube lakes! That'll only help set the hook! Wait till you get your first one over 4 lbs in a tube. That'll really get you going. Where you guys fishing any Great Texas Bass Club lakes? KD

No, Kelly he has a lot at White Bluff and they have a couple of ponds about 15 or 20 acres each. Alot of grass and reeds around the shoreline. I was giggling like a little kid, even when I accidently uncorked the tube and had to scramble to stop the escaping air before I sank. Had lifevest on but didn't want to spend the rest of the day soaked. Made it to shore and reinflated and all was well. Kelly I work in Irving, lived there until 7 years ago. Dennis

15 or 20 acres ponds? Those are perfect for tubing, but I don't have to tell you that! KD

If Kelly goes, I'd better go, too. He doesn't like tubin' without me. BigLeslie took me to his little central Texas lakes this week, by the way, Kelly. Definitely potential! Of course, I would finally get out there just in time for a good, windy spring cold front that followed over 7 inches of rain, turning the lakes into chocolate milk. Still, we'll need to get back out there soon.

Yep, like I told Fishbrain, anytime I try to show that little honey hole off the fish or weather, or both just don't cooperate. Oh well, just have to try 'em again!

dml352 - I thought you were working the Byron Nelson this weekend. The area around Whitney is my old stomping grounds. Try finding a little spot in the road called Goat's Neck north of Whitney. Fantastic place on the Brazos to fish by wading or tubing.
I haven't forgot about the drums.

Roller22-I worked 64 hrs out there Wed. thru Sun. on my bike. My hat is off to the inventor of padded bicycle shorts. The weather held out and it was packed between Sat. and Sun. All went well though. My schedule this week is packed until Monday of next week. Give me a call whenever on the barrels, it's no hurry. Dennis

dml352 - Once summer gets here and I'm out of school, we need to head down to Whitney and I'll try and find Goats Neck. Some buddies in college took me there and we slaughtered the sandies. Went back later in the summer and caught quality channels by floating grasshoppers through the current. I'm going to try and start fishing for bass and channels with a fly rod in the creeks around Justin. My grandad used a fly rod for channels in the creeks around Hamilton and my uncle told us some great stories about watching him catch hundreds of channel cats on grasshoppers. We need to catch up on some fishing we never got to do a few summers ago. I'll call you.

Goatneck is easy to find. Going south on 174 when you come into Rio Vista turn right on 916. that will be going west. you will pass what used to be Ham Creek Park (closed now)Goat neck starts there and goes for a ways.
