I don't have a tube, but I'm considering one. I've noticed there are several types out there including regular swim fins, the duck foot looking ones that you strap over your foot/shoe/boot, and the fins that you strap to the side of your leg. I would like to know what you guys think about the kind(s) you use.

Do you have waders? Are they stocking or boot foot? If boot foot, you'll need to take that into consideration when you buy fins. They'll have to fit over the boots.

I use stocking foot waders and the same fins year round. They're the cheap US Diver fins at Academy. They work great and are soft enough to not wear you out kicking. I think they're about $15.

I would get a $25-35 pair cheap ones will blister your feet. A good hat, sun glasses, 10 ft. stringer for cold water times good 3 mil waders stocking type so you can use fins / u can fish year round. I fish out of a bass tracker/ camo cost me $50 in In 1981 I still fish with it back rest / front zipper pouch, I carry two poles
I baitcast & flyfish. Don't forget bug rep. I also carry water shoes when i get out to walk to other spots.

My waders have boots attached so I use flippers that tie on over my boots. However, in the summer months I use regular diving fins because I only wear a bathing suit. The diving fins really work a heck of a lot better so you may want to consider getting waders with stockings so you can wear the same flippers year round. I have heard, never experienced, that the ankle flippers really don't work that well and have a tendency to break. On a funny note, I forgot my flippers once and tried to use a canoe paddle. Doesn't work too well in a tube. Had to prop my legs to one side to prevent going in a circle. Anyway, have fun.

Guess I should have explained better. I've never had a blister, but use the neoprene booties under the flippers. Never would have thought of using them on bare skin.

If you get the fins that are adjustable and can fit over boots or bare feet. I, like Kelly use the neopreme wader with a stocking foot I also either put an old tennis shoe on over them or I now have what is called water sox that I wear winter and summer. In winter to keep from stepping on something in the lake causing a leak or in summer to keep from a punture wound on bare feet. The water sox are very inexpensive and made to be in the water. It is much better to have some sort of protection on your feet and these work out real well. They come in a slip on and in a lace up. I use the lace up

The "dive style" fins are a great choice if you have neoprene waders without boots. I got a good pair from BPS with a split fin design and they work really well. I think they are made by US Divers. As for the "lace up over boot" style, it seems like every time I go fishing with Wes(robertwb) I end up having to swim over and rescue one of his strap on fins because it slips off of his boot. Therefore in brief:

-buy stocking waders and use dive fins

-if you must use strap ons, buy a U-tube so that your friend doesn't have to swim over and tie your fins back on your feet.

Terry, I seem to remember a specific instance where I slipped on one of your US diver fins. Besides, what are fishing partners for? In all seriousness, of all of the times I have been fishing with the strap on fins they have only come undone twice which happened to be when I was with Terry. I do agree that the diving fins are better and will allow you to move through the water faster.
