They seem to take most any fly when I'm able to get it in front of them without spooking them. Most of the flies I've been tying aren't any specific pattern. In fact, I tied a couple with just a bunch of coyote fur that they seem to like. I also tried a coffee bean beetle, a mulberry imitation, and other buggy or nymph looking things. I think the main thing is they were tailing and feeding actively. It's more a matter of being stealthy and getting a fly in front of them. You can see from my pics the recent rains have the fish up in the newly flooded shallows. Most are rooting on the bottom, but quite a few would be taking stuff off the surface. I couldn't make out exactly what, but there is a lot of cottonwood seeds, insects, etc.

Nice! 18 carp and buffalo in a day on flies must be some kind of record. Well done!

this thread is nothing with out a post from Dave
The ONLY reason to fish with a fly rod in Texas is to throw a POPPER, casting any other type fly just means you're doing something.

Ewww. I mean wow. I'd say 20+ of any fish is a pretty good day.
