Heading to Cozumel in late June. I'm looking for a guide service on the island. I've found a lot online but thought I'd ask the TFFers if any of you have used and can recommend a service on the island.

I will be in Playa for 2 weeks at the end of June-July fishing most of the time. Jorge is a Panga captain there and I did well fishing with him last yr but it is in Playa so not sure if you want to go there. If you do I'll split a trip with you. It's only like $150 for a half day and you are only 1/3 mile off the beach. Last year I caught 2 nice sized sails and a durado in under an hour.

I was there on a cruise April 18. Didn't book a fishing trip on the boat (save your money). Went to the marina and trolled on foot, found a Bertram 31, Capt. Alfonso Erosa Aguilar (I kept his card) phone (987)872-11-05, cell 9871000858. His boat is called Mahi-Mahi. I have fished all over the Pacific side and have been on a couple of "Mexican boat rides" when I was new. There will be people all over the place wanting to set you up fishing, don't go that way, call Alfonso. His son was the first mate, 1/2 case of beer, water and soft drinks furnished. He had decent equipment, maybe 1 gold reel but all penns with good hooks and fresh leaders. Fresh hoo naked and skirts. He wants you to catch fish. $400/$450 for a full day. We didn't have a great 5 hours but we caught 10 barracuda and 20 to 25 bottom fish (my son and I). I will call him next time I am in the area.

May your seas be flat and your bite the best ever

Just got back from Puerto Aventuras just inland from Cozumel and my wife and I went out of Captain Rick's, kind of touristy, but we booked an 8 hour trolling trip anyway. Ended the day 3 for 4 on white marlin, 2 big dorado, 2 black tuna, and had several others come into the spread. Most of our bites came just outside the inlet to Xel-Ha.

We fished on the Puffin with Captain Ebert. Very good captain and very good deckhand.

I was very pleasantly surprised. Fishing down there right now is RED HOT!!!
