We are only going be down there 4-5 days and its not fishing trip just a beach vacation but what would you suggest to catch a fish that would put up a fight. Jacks or something would be fine bull drum or large sharts. We are not big fish eaters so drum and specs aren't that important.
Surf/pier fish somewhere (was reading up on bob hall), hire a guide do something in the bay or short blue water trip, or...?

I have fished Bob Hall for the last 20 years on our vacations to Corpus. Always hit or miss for me but I have seen some good size fish caught off the T head. Also, there is a pier similar to the Bob Hall on Mustang Island (cant remember the name). I havent been there as much but have seen better results there. Taking my little girl to Bob Hall for the first time this year so hope for some good burgers and fishing,

All of those are good option. The surf, jetties, Bob Hall pier, offshore can all put big fish on the end of your line. You just sort of have to decide which species you want to target and gear up for it. Generically speaking, you can get some mullet and fish that off the beach, jetties or end of the piers and stand a chance for shark, reds or maybe stingrays.

Caught my first ever shark off Bob Hall many years ago, about a 3 fter. I was only about 12 yrs old. For whatever reason, the sharks were thick that day on the pier. The old lady next to us must have caught 10-12 of those things, but she was rigged for it and trying. I didn't have the proper tackle for sharks so my little Zebco was outmatched, lol. In fact, the shark I did catch stripped the gears in it. But hey, I was excited anyways!

If you want to catch some "large sharts" I would head to the Taqueria on Airline right at McArdle. Order the Tejas plate and buckle up.... Sorry, I couldn't resist. If you are taking the family with you Horace Caldwell pier in Port Aransas is a little bit more family friendly. Bob Hall tends to get kind of territorial and less family oriented. You can also try the Jetties at either Port A or JP Luby depending on the weather.

Just the wife and myself. I did a yearly trip out of port o conner and I keep telling my wife how awesome it is to get on a good fish but after a laughable trip through royal caribbean and a trip last year to port o connor that was just catfish and small sharks two days straight I want to get her on something impressive.
Willing to pay money but like I said not wanting to have to trip focused on fishing but if she accidently gets addicted would be win win. She comes from years of tank fishing where it was garanteed catch but a 2 pound bass is a trophy etc.

Horace Caldwell is a great pier. I don't see it get discussed on here as much as bob hall, but you should definitely try it out. You shouldn't need to pay any money, there is plenty of great pier/shore fishing to be had. There is also packery channel near by. It's a well kept location, just make sure you have plenty of tackle for jetty fishing.
