Sunday afternoon was one of my best days yet. The wind got up about 3:00PM and the bite was on. Played catch-an-release with hybrids on main lake humps until the wind got ferocious and had to leave. Lots of 21 to 23 inch fish on BIG live shad until I ran out.
2 in-a-half ounce slabs got 18-19 inch fish regular. Hybrids on BP are really, really getting nice!!!
Days like that make me want to retire and guide fish.
(on second thought...skip the guide part).
Sandies were surfacing EVERYWHERE but not much size to them. I
agree with past lakeguide comments on this forum that alot of these are 2011 stockings of Hybrids.
Don't know where the magnum sandies are?
Has anyone found any good 14 to 15 inchers? Pontoons around me were catching small sandies and not much else.

Sounds like a fun day!, I hope I can make it out over the weekend. Haven't been on the water in 8 months, bummer.

Good info! I have wanted to get out there and fish that lake for the last year but I know nothing about it. (other than I drive over it going to the deer lease) Maybe early next month I'll have a chance.

Lots of 12 & 13 inch sandies @ the lower unit with a few small 20 inch hybrids. Have beed catching bigger sandies with the flies by nite tied above the slab. Not many half a dozen or so per trip. Can't find lots of mag sandies this year. Maybe Keith will chime in, it is his lake.!

I've seen the same thing with the big Sandies. I know MakoMan tore up some a while back near lower unit. I would look around Rattlesnake Island, right out in front (east). From 10-22 feet of water. May find a larger Hybrid or two in the group, but certainly some of the little Hybrids will be with them.

Two things may be possible here. Either the BIG Females are still spawning shallow (likely) or the fish are in "small" cycle and there may not be that many larger fish...look out next year!

Numerous main lake humps located due east of rattlesnake Isl. Also around island to the south on the roadbed.

I picked up 3 over hybrids and some 12" sandbass over there between the dam and spillway/intake in 25'. Seems like the big sandbass are still up north. Someone should try steele island area maybe or northside marina cove mouth.

it's the crapy days that make the good days that much better!!!

It's the rock pile on north end of the lake. Hazard buoys mark the area. Can't miss.

Oh OK, Thanks!!
Keith had shown me that spot when we went out with him, but I didn't recall the name, just knew I should avoid going through there at speed.
