I have a PiranhaMax 20 on the console and a 565 up front on the trolling motor. Looks like after years of use the sun has ruined them. I am looking to replace them with similar units, ones that hopefully will just drop right into the same mounts.

The gentleman at the boat shop where I took my boat for servicing told me that most hummig birds in the same rang will just drop right in, use the same transducer and everything.

I dont really see anymore of the PiranhaMax 20's around. I see they have PiranhaMax 170's. Are they just updated versions or do these have more features than my 20? Will the 170 drop in and work with the 20's mount and transducer?

Anyone have a good reccomendation on what to replace my 565 with?

Like I said, I hope to just be able to have somthing that will drop into the same mount and be compatible with the same transducer. If there is somthing that is updated and has more features then thats all the better.

Thanks,

Jeff

Call Hb or an HB dealer.

Look up the MS M mount on the Humminbird web site in the accessories listing. That will show you all the units that use that quick disconnect mount. Most any unit (not all), that is not a DI model or a Ethernet capable unit will use the same transducer including the legacy Side Imaging models.

As Wayne says, all of the current non-DI 500-series units should fit and those are really good units for the money.

That's one of the nice features of Humminbird you can upgrade the head unit and use the existing hardware and the connectors will connect with new models.

Yea Humminbird is seemingly easy to work with. I have been looking some new fish finders and now I want one with DI, GPS and color. Here I thought I was just going to get a similar replacement. lol

The 587 ci looks nice but I would like a bigger display.

A Down Imaging unit uses a different transducer.
The largest display unit that will fit your mount is the 500 and 700 series units with a square 5" screen. The 587ci HD has a screen that is narrower than its height.
Models with a larger screen use a gimbal mount.
