I just bought a 2000 17'7 spring bass boat with a 125 mercury on it. The front of the boat doesn't come out of the water enough when on plane. I want to get a jack plate but don't think it will fit in my garage once I put the jack plate on. Im wondering if I got 2 in transom set back spacers would that help mh problem. I know it will help a little with speed but I'm more concerned with the drag of the front of the boat. Any help would be great v

What hole is the motor mounted on, 2nd down 3rd down? Is the prop in good shape? are you at the end of the trim range on your motor when this happens? Cary

Cary is right. you might wanna look at the setup and the prop tuning first.

you might wanna consider wedges, not setback spacers. and some prop tuning.

Try Trimming it. A 4 blade prop will lift more of the boat out of the water and run smoother with no change in length. See,if Steve can help you.

It has a 3 blade prop and is in good shape. I am tilting the motor up. I have never had this issue on any boats I've owned before. I had a guy look at the other day and he.said.something about a hook but have no idea what he was referring to. It is rated for a 150 he said that's why it has a hook. I will check which hole it is mounted in when I get home.

if you have a stock laser II that prop doesn't have enough cup in it. needs to be worked.

the "hook" is on the pad. keeps the bow down and helps the midrange handling (porpoising) and on some boats, it really slows em down.

What all do you have on, or stored under the front deck?

A little weight can make a huge difference in smaller boats.

Another vote on prop work or getting a 4 blade and work.
