You typically get what you pay for in life. It's also simple economics- the bigger he gets the more overhead he will have, thus he will eventually have price increases. When I was growing up it was not uncommon to pay 300 for a guide when gas was cheap. Now, I regularly pay 350-400 and I don't think it's a bad deal. Most guides have difficulty filling 5 days, 4 weeks a month so some of the other cost is to subsidize open spots, cancellations, weather cancellations, etc. If I have a customer that I absolutely need to put on fish, there's a guide Im picking that charges 600 per half day and he's always booked. But you can bet I will try my best to be on his boat. As long as there are no minority grants, Im all about capitalism at its finest.

He may be of Vietnamese heritage but he's more than likely a US citizen. Most all of us come from a heritage of immigrants who all had to make their way.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

Could be that he is just starting out and is setting prices just above operating cost so he can attract more clientele and build his name more quickly before gradually increasing prices.

No fish is too good for the grease.

for $150 a trip its cheaper for me to go with him than it is for me to take my own boat out. Post up his info, I'll give him a shot. I've spent more catching nothing. lol.

I agree with you throwback, my family was from irish decent on my fathers, and pure cajun on my moms.
It doesnt matter at all.
I was not criticizing race, I was inguiry about the price, I have never hired a guide.

I wouldn't care if he's purple with black dots, if you're interested in hiring a guide, give him a go. You've wasted more money on lap dances. If he's good, tell some friends, if he sucks, tell everyone.

uh ? A guy trying to make a living turns into a race debate ? Karnavor asked opinions about a guided fishing trip.

Heck I'd like to know who this guy is if he's good and particularly before he ups his rates.
