Younggun,

Welcome to the TFF, first of all! I have a website that is dedicated to float tubing, and it can give you some idea what you'd be getting into. It's just a hobby of mine, no professional site, by any means, but it might help. It's at www.lsfta.com. If you ever want to try before you buy, just post in here. A bunch of us have multiple tubes and are glad to share. smile

I bought my tube at Academy about 6 years ago, and just now started having problems with it. The main bladder has a hole in it. But, let me tell you, I don't treat mine kindly. I throw it in the truck, throw it in the barn, throw it....well, you get the idea. I have been very happy with it. But, I think I might just upgrade this weekend to the Trout Unlimited Colorado Pontoon. Bass Pro and Cabela's has it on sale for $399.00. So... keep your fingers crossed that they have enough. Oh, by the way, the website that Fishbrain is talking about is VERY helpful. You should check it out!!

YoungGun,

The best way to learn is to get out there and try it. Like fishbrain said a lot of us have extra tubes and you're more than welcome to use one if you ever want to come out with us. I had a lot of the same thoughts that you do but hanging out w/ fishbrain you learn very fast. I hate to say this but he's a good guy!!! bang

I would buy one of the mid to lower priced U boats to start out. You should be able to get in one for under a 100 bucks. Get some flippers and go at it. I fish my tube from early spring to late fall any time the water is warm enough. It is the absolute BEST way to fish small water. I even use it in the river to get to patches of shore and sand bars where I then shore fish. It is a great thing to thow in the bow of a Pontoon boat to fish the back waters. The nice thing about the U-boat is when ya upgrade you have a tube for a buddy.

If you don't know where you are going, don't be surprised if you don't get there.

Two wheels or two reels, either way I'm happy.

Let's handle those bass better. Use two hands. M'kay? - How to Handle Bass
