Tried fishing with a weightless fluke today, and didn't have any luck. I tried giving it small twitches, then letting it sink, and repeat. Is that a wrong tecnique? What conditions should it be fished in?

try it with a very, very small bullet weight, and I like the ones with the paddle tail dipped in the "garlic mix"

I fish it slow most of the time. If its a bit deep or it there is some wind the split shot helps. Some people like to use a swivel instead of a split shot to keep the line from getting twisted. I dont use the swivel because that is two extra knots to break, but people use it all the time without any problems.
I have a buddy that likes to "skip" it on the surface on the retrieve and he catches a bunch that way., I never have been able to repeat his success though.
It can be a great carolina rig bait too.

So I shouldn't be fishing it weightless? A small bullet or dropshot works better?

IMO, it doesn't really seem to matter if you use use a weight or not. I've had great success on just weightless, letting it sink about a foot with a couple of twitches. Reel in the slack then let it sit for about 10-15 sec. Repeat. I like to fish them very slow and meticulous. They're great once you figure out the technique though.

Twitch twitch pause let it sink back down. Let it sink on the original drop. Slightly jerk from the side and not up

Weightless is great and its the way i fish it most of the time. Using a spit shot is just another presentation. Another way to add weight is to push a nail in the nose of the bait. And yet another way is to use one of the sinkers that are shaped like a bell and have an eye that swivels (name escapes me). slide that on the hook past the point and then put the point in the bait, let the weight glide freely up and down the hook.

Fish it just like you'd fish a weighted t-rig -- you won't be disappointed

If the water is clear fish it below the level you can see the bait. Most likely you're fishing it too fast if you're not getting bit. Slow down and pause longer between twitches to keep your bait deeper.

Most likely you're fishing it too fast if you're not getting bit. Right on, I think most fisherman fish this bait too fast. It is my go to confidence bait and I have a pretty good catch percentage whenI fish a fluke. Slow it down and that will help I'm sure. I normally fish it it slow with two twitches or however many twitches it takes to imitate a wounded baitfish. It varies but when you can master the wounded baitfish technique, the fluke can be a killer bait for you

Have had good success with it this year. Weightless. I get most bites on the fall. Since no weight, you may not feel the bite. Watch your line. I usually wait 10 seconds between twitches. If your rod loads up on a slow retrieve. Hammer it. If a fish boils twitch it fast on the surface, like a zara spook. I;ve caught a lot of fish like that.

not so much HOW you fish it as WHERE you are fishing it...

Make sure you are using the right hook to get the right action for the type of fluke you are using - Weightless I like a heavy wire hook - toss it in the water next to the boat and watch how it falls - I also like to fish a fluke on a belly weighted hook and make long casts letting it sink all the way to the bottom and then twitching it back to the boat almost like fishing a worm - keep the slack out of the line and just bump it across the bottom.

Belly weight makes the tail flutter as it sinks.
