Put drain plug in livewell drain hole instead of the boat drain hole. Left plug in the boat and about 10 minutes before getting home hit a down pour. Pulled boat into the shop building and auto bilge kicked on. Soaked everything i had hanging on the wall next to the boat.

Drove for an hour to the lake and realized my keys were in the cabinet at the house. Never again!

Fished a night tourney one time and when I was comin in for weigh in I see this guys boat drifting out in the lake. So when I got on shore I told a couple guys and they said that sound like ole Don's boat, so I told the guy that they said it might be and he was less than grateful. I volunteered to take him out to it so he could retrieve it before somebody ran into it. He reminded me that his boat was much nicer than mine while we was getting close to his boat so I shut off my big motor and pulled up to his boat using my trolling motor. After he stepped off onto his boat my buddy on the bank just told me to head for the ramp and he would meet me with the trailer. As I was pulling up on my trailer I hear a god awful noise and that is when it occurs to me that I didn't pull my trolling motor back up,(it destroyed it). When I got up the next morning and told my wife that I had to replace a trolling motor cuz we was goin' on vacation in a week she was less than thrilled. The worst thing about it all was the guy I helped get his boat came over to me and my buddy as we were securing the trolling motor for the ride home and said "I ain't never seen no [censored] do anything more stupid than that"

Left motor down when pulling up ramp(once)
Forgot boat keys(5-6 times) I never take them out now
Left light pole in going under dock......destroyed pole(once)
Left phone on back deck when making a run. RIP good ol Razor phone(once)
Got into a school of good smallies in a tournament. Was catching fish pretty quick. I decided to leave net on front deck for easy access. I hooked up with a fish, when I grabbed net to net fish, it was tangled in a rod handle of a pole on the deck. Not realizing it until it was too late. Lost rod and fish! (you'll only do it once)

First time out in my bass boat after I bought it (had never driven one before): 1. Forgot to trim down when I went to get on step and all I saw was sky. 2. While loading my boat onto the trailer by I leaned over the bow to connect my wench to the boat and my leg hit the trolling motor switch and sliced my hand pretty good. 3. Pulled the boat out with out trimming the motor up and dragged the skag on the ramp. 4. I didn't unplug my trailer lights and it shorted running lights on my tahoe and trailer. I had to drive home at night without lights
That was a fun one to explain to the wife.

My fishing partner got his lure stuck in a tree about 10 ft high. We trolled over to get it, he decides he is going to jump on the front of the boat and push the lure off the tree with his rod. Next thing you see is him hugging the tree and the boat about 5 ft away. I had a quick decision to make stay there and laugh or rescue my partner. Well eventually he did make it into the boat...

Oh yeah! Dad and I converted my 482V Ranger from cable steering to hydraulic. Started too late, finished even later - went real easy, and looked great. We laughed how stupid it would be to get the hoses bachward. Next day 'test run' at Fayette as we take off the transom brace realize... Yep, hooked em up backwards. I'm telling you it's impossible to 'look left - turn right'. Laughed so hard we almost fell outta the boat. Loading it was a real trick.

To appreciate this one, you need to have watched Bill Dance's blooper shows.
Back in high school, I fished out if an old, wore out Kingfisher boat. The trolling motor had went out, and I only had enough money to afford a small hand/tiller style TM. I did still have the bracket for the old motor and I figured I would just be able to bolt it on. Well the shaft was too big and being the redneck that I am, where is the baling wire. I wired it up and all worked well for a month or so. One day, I had it on high and ran into a stump. The wire broke and the TM shot off like a rocket, thrashing around the front of the boat with only the wires to hold it. I was trying to grab it without cutting my hand off, all while it is chewing up every thing on the front if the boat.
I laugh hysterically everytime I see Bill's blooper show, when that happens to him. To find it, just do a search on you tube for Bill Dance trolling motor.
Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

Oh yeah - You had to to remind me of that one - I pulled out of the driveway about 4:30 in the morning one day to head for the lake and get about a quarter mile down the road before my phone starts ringing - My wife says there was a terrible loud noise in the garage after I left - Well it turns out I had pulled out with my on board charger still plugged in and the hatch was shut on the cord shut so the cord couldn't pull out. It would have been alright but the cord was running behind a metal door leaning against the wall and it tipped the door over on my wifes car - It will be a long time before I forget that again....

In the late 90's I was prefishing for a tx100 event on granbury. It was early February. I had two buddies from high school with me. We were headed to Indian Harbor and out in the middle of the lake was the mother load of a sea gull flock. I had the bright idea to run my 21' nitro as fast as possible through the middle of them. I trim up as run full speed ahead. Little did I know the gulls were STANDING on a sandbar inches under the surface. Due to the cloudy day I didn't see it. Long story short the boat came to a stop as I got to them. It took us 3 hours trying to push the boat off the sand bar. It was quite the embarrassing moment.
